Maine Coast Photo & Digital Picture CD Picture CD is scanned at a high resolution of 1000x1500 dpi and provides excellent color and resolution quality for your viewing on a computer screen, as well as high quality prints.
Picture CD scanners scan your film at an optical resolution of 1000x1500 pixels per inch at the film plane, at 24-bit color. This delivers a 1.5 megabyte file for each optical color plane. For the three color planes (R, G, B) this equates to a 4.5 megabyte file. The Picture CD uses JPEG compression to deliver files that are approximately 200K to 400K in size to the CD.
As a general rule, the resolution of the images is a rough guide to the maximum enlargement possible. For example, a 400x600 image is enlargeable to a maximum of 4x6 inches without significant deterioration. Therefore, a 1000x1500 image is (very roughly) enlargeable to about 10x12 inches. Check each store for actual sizes.
Our Picture CD’s come with image viewing, slide show and e-mail software.
Kodak Picture CD
Kodak Picture CD’s are scanned the same as our own CD’s. These are slightly more expensive because each CD contains Kodak’s image enhancing software along with image viewing, slide show and e-mail capabilities. |
